As we soon found out we were to explore mysteries of the beautiful motherland of Vaclav Claus, Helena Vondrackova, Krecik, ¯wirek i Muchomorek and Rumcajs.
Czech Republic.
We and our suntanned brothers from Italy were invited to a breathtaking, picturesque town in south of Moravia- MIKULOV due to being a part of a great ecological project called; ‘Ecofootprint’.
Our magnificent Polish fellowship reached the destination after a strenuous day spent in trains and we arrived to Mikulov on Sunday evening. At the very beginning we were given a really enthusiastic welcome. And despite exhaustion, we couldn’t help overwhelming curiosity; therefore, we had to spend some nice time all together talking until late at night.
Next morning, with our heads full of new names and information to remember, we left the houses we slept in, to go sightseeing around the town. We visited an impressive castle which is towering over the city, saw Dietrichstein’s chapel on a hill and the biggest wine barrel in Europe. We were also mayor’s guests in the town hall, from which we took a short walk to a really nice school canteen to regain our strength. We were happy to taste the most famous Czech dishes, such as knedliczki and other delicious specialities of Czech cuisine. Next we were acquainted with fascinating presentations of other schools. In the evening, when we were finally free, we met our new lovely friends again and went bowling. It was a hard job to remember all those foreign names! There was Alessandro, Luca, Danila and Luana from Campobasso in Italy, Jana and Martin and Miska and Dominika and Adam and Denisa from Mikulov… Oh dear! And that’s not even a half of them!
The next day organizers arranged a really informative trip to a nuclear power station in Dukovany and to local brewery. That night we also hung out with each other.
Wednesday was the day when we worked hard; we did chemical analysis of water, made an ecological film and a board game for kids.
Wednesday was the day when we sweated. After huge mental effort, we were forced to physical extension walking up a high great hill in Palava, with an breathtaking view of lakes, rivers and vineyards.
Thursday was begun with outing to memorable place- Lednice, its castle and ancient orangery.
And than; Bam! All of the sudden it was Friday. Last day. The saddest moment of them all. It was time to say goodbye to all of these lovely people, wonderful places and interesting culture.
But, as I said; it wasn’t a farewell. I hope that one day we will come back there, or that our foreign friends will come to Poland. It was an unforgettable experience!
